Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF) 9th
On October 18, 2017 Jamaica became the beneficiary of an initial US$7.52 million in grant funding under the ninth cycle of the Caribbean Development Bank's (CDB) Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF-9th).These funds will be geared towards improvement in education, transportation, enterprise development, water and sanitation services, through projects implemented by the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF).The allocation is part of a provision of US$40.8 million being made available to nine Caribbean borrowing member countries of the Caribbean Development Bank, under the Basic Needs Trust Fund.The BNTF is the flagship poverty-reduction programme of the CDB aimed at contributing to the improvement in the living conditions of poor and vulnerable communities in participating countries.It is envisioned that the implementation of the BNTF-9 will assist the Government of Jamaica in it's poverty reduction efforts, by empowering the lives of project beneficiaries.
