Sports Complex to be Developed in Norwood, St. James
The Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) will be developing a sports complex in Norwood, St. James, as part of the Zone of Special Operations (ZOSO) now in place in the community.
JSIF’s Managing Director, Omar Sweeney, tells JIS News that the undertaking will form part of upcoming youth engagement activities in Norwood.
The complex, which will be developed under the ZOSO’s build phase, is being done under JSIF’s Integrated Community Development Project II (ICDP II).
Albion Primary gets special education classroom block
Albion Primary School in Knockpatrick, Manchester has received a new classroom block to house its special education unit.
The structure was constructed over 17 months at a cost of $87.17 million under the Caribbean Development Bank-financed Basic Needs Trust Fund 9th Cycle.
The block was officially handed over to the Ministry of Education by the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) on Friday.

$631.7 Million Allocated for REDI II Project
A sum of $631.7 million has been earmarked to continue work to enhance access to markets and climate-resilient approaches for targeted beneficiaries in the tourism and agriculture sectors.
The details of the allocation, provided under the Rural Economic Development Initiative (REDI) II, is contained in the 2023/24 Estimates of Expenditure, which is before the House of Representatives.
Targets for the upcoming fiscal year include the rehabilitation of the St. Mary Multipurpose Cooperative Society cold storage and the Hanover Bee Farmers’ Cooperative Society honey bottling facilities, and the REDI II Agro-Invest Corporation’s Irrigation
